We Christians often find ourselves distracted by the things of the world. We often make minor things major and vice versa. We far too often stray and leave our first love. We try and transform the God who IS into the God whom we want him to be!
Christians of every creed and color must wake up! We must stop prostituting ourselves to the world; trying to imitate it to "reach" people… They say that imitation is the highest form of flattery; so why are we trying to imitate the world?? We attempt to reach the world by starting in their shoes and "convincing" them that Jesus will solve all their problems and make their lives easy with a with: a big house, 2 cars, 3 kids, & 2.5 dogs… And don't forget all the warm fuzzy feelings you will feel inside; telling people that choosing Jesus makes you feel like you are drinking a hot cup of cocoa on a cold winter day. We want to sing "Jesus Loves Me" and play patty cake with the world.
This is what is killing the church!
The Bible says that the cross is a stumbling block to many. The blood is offensive; it strikes at the core of our humanity, our pride. It screams, you are NOT good enough on your own! No matter what Oprah or Dr. Phil say; you cannot be "good" enough for God."There is none good; NO NOT ONE." Romans 3:10.
When will the church start being the church and stop trying to be like the world? I am not sure that it will ever fully regain its purity. We have become an impure bride, tainted, & unclean. A time is coming, I know not when, in which the church will be tested and found standing neck deep in its hypocrisy.
We have become our own worst enemy. We are participating in a system that spits in the face of Christ and His death on the cross.
Oh, Christ come quickly, do not tarry; please save us from ourselves!
